When my son’s ‘trip’ to Australia turned into something more permanent, I tried to lighten my feelings by making playful jokes about it. As the longhaul flights were pretty exhausting and very expensive, I said that what we needed was a portal between Australia and the UK. And since he had made the decision to go, I told my son that I expected him to make it happen. It became a running joke.
“How’s work going on the portal?” “Yep, yep, just working on the design, shouldn’t be long now…” And then this popped up on the BBC news webpage:
It’s a portal connecting Vilnius, Lithuania and Lublin, Poland. No sound, just visuals. But what a great idea!
If our lottery numbers come up, we’re definitely going to invest in having one in our living room - unless our son manages to complete a fully operational portal first!!
